New CNC machining centre now in operation at ELKOM

Since February 2024, our production has been enhanced by a fully modernised MKM CNC machining centre. With super-format capabilities, a powerful 22 kW spindle, extended tool capacity and energy-efficient technology, the system features cutting-edge control and the highest safety standards – boosting quality and efficiency for the benefit of our customers.

In February 2024, our new CNC machining centre – fully overhauled and modernised – successfully started operation. Since then, it has become an indispensable part of our production.

The machine, an MKM CNC machining centre of the uni_Portal 16/60 RO type, originally built in 2009, has undergone a comprehensive upgrade and is now equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Following an extensive retrofit, the machine now offers a host of improvements and new features.

Highlights and advantages:

  • Super-format aluminium platen machining: The new machine allows us to process aluminium platens in large-scale formats, offering greater flexibility and efficiency in production. The table measures 6,500 mm in length and 2,500 mm in width.
  • High-performance motor spindle: Equipped with a powerful 22 kW motor spindle, the machine ensures faster, more precise machining.
  • Expanded tool capacity: Two 16-slot tool changers boost productivity and reduce set-up times.
  • Energy efficiency: The updated, regenerative electrical system and energy-efficient controllers reduce energy consumption by over 21%, lowering operating costs and contributing to environmental protection.

We are proud to have this state-of-the-art machine in operation and look forward to passing the increased efficiency and quality on to our customers.
